Roasted chestnuts with chocolate can make a very elegant and unique Christmas gift, or a lovely treat you can enjoy during Christmas.
was a bit sceptical before I tried chestnuts. I totally didn't know what to expect, but I must say, it was a pleasant surprise!
The nuts itself have a very unique, slightly sweet taste. There are many ways to use them in both, sweet and savoury dishes, and I decided to try the sweet one first.
The roasting process is very easy, and the peel comes out nicely. Just remember to make an incision before you put them in the oven, or other wise you shooting rage in there...
Dipped in dark chocolate, chestnuts can make an amazing Christmas treat, or a very elegant gift. I'm definitely gonna try some other recipes!
Roasted chestnuts with chocolate recipe
Preheat the oven to 220°C.
With a serrated knife, make a lengthwise slit down the entire middle surface, on the long side of your chestnuts.
Place the chestnuts in a pot with cold water. Boil them and remove from the heat.
Place the chestnuts with the flat side down, the cut side up in a single layer in your baking pan. Roast in the oven for about 15-20 minutes.
Remove from the oven and wrap them in a clean towel. Let them sit for 10 min, then peel the skin.
Melt the chocolate and pour into a high dish (glass, cup). Stick the toothpick into the chestnuts and dip them one by one in the chocolate. Transfer into the flat surface covered with baking sheet. Let the chocolate firm completely for around 3h. You can optionally dust them with golden powder.
